I have known Larry and Connie since very early in their Christian lives. You might say that I have grown up with their kids, even though I am old enough to be their grandfather. I hold all of them as close friends in Christ and in very high regard. I read this little book a year ago. I am reading it again now. I was impressed then and am more impressed now. I don’t know a book like it. Although it is instruction about raising children, God is the real subject of this book. It is clear, concise, not trite, wise and tender. It is not a book of methods as in whether you spank with a spoon, ping-pong paddle, or cedar shingle. It is a book of attitudes and principles and it is biblical. I am already thinking of people, young and old to whom I can give it.

I’ve got a neat little book here in my hand... And the title is The Things You’ll See, the sub title, Notes To My Children On How They Were Raised. Each chapter is about a page or page and a half. This book is very easy to read. It’s full of extremely practical stuff. Example, get clear on what kind of people you want them to be. That’s an early chapter in it. And another one is “There is a way that seems right to a man”, that’s taken from the book of proverbs. Anyway, it’s a nice little book, a nice give away book to people who are attempting to rear their children…

The Things You'll See displays a wonderful combination of shrewdness, clarity, kindness and wisdom. This is a book for parents who don't want to cleanse the outside of the cup.
